Adobe ColdFusion

The world’s first Application Server

What’s ColdFusion?

ColdFusion is a middleware for web-based scripting languages with database applications. It was developed by Allaire in 1995, then taken over by Macromedia and eventually by Adobe Systems.

It consists of three parts:

  • ColdFusion Application Server
  • ColdFusion Mark-up Language (CFML,  a scripting language)
  • Suitable Development environment (e.g. Eclipse, Adobe ColdFusion Builder or Adobe Dreamweaver)

ColdFusion is a valid alternative to comparable systems like ASP.NET, JSP/Servlet, Ruby on Rails – ROR, ZOPE – Python, Perl and PHP.
